Design Professionals Nation-Wide Receive Training on Helical Foundation Systems
The engineering team at Foundation Supportworks (FSI) has been busy traveling the country to educate engineers, architects, general contractors and other design professionals about various geotechnical construction solutions available through FSI. Topics covered have included helical foundation systems, helical soil nails, push pier systems, cellular concrete, polyurethane injection systems, along with an introduction to HelixPro, a helical design software program available exclusively from FSI and free of charge to design professionals throughout North America. Foundation Supportworks has been named an approved provider for all educational seminars through RCEP, AIA and the Florida State Board of Engineers. Recent seminars have been hosted in the following cities:
- 9/7 – Orlando, FL
- 9/14 – Fargo, ND
- 10/2 – Herndon, VA
- 10/3 – Richmond, VA
- 10/4 – Norfolk, VA
- 10/18 – Little Rock, AR

Engineering Seminars in Virginia Educate Design Professionals on Deep Foundation Solutions
JES Construction, a foundation repair and stabilization company with multiple offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, hosted three 5-hour engineering seminars during the week of October 24th. JES Constructionis a leader in the foundation industry, and has been serving commercial and residential clients throughout Virginia and Maryland for nearly 20 years.
The 5-hour seminars, which took place in Richmond, Manassas (near Washington, DC), and Norfolk, Virginia, were facilitated by Jeff Kortan, P.E., Director of Engineering for Foundation Supportworks, and Don Deardorff, P.E., Senior Application Engineer for Foundation Supportworks.
A total of 212 design professionals attended the presentations, allowing them to expand their knowledge about design considerations, typical applications, and capacity calculations associated with helical foundation systems, helical soil nails, and push (resistance) pier systems.
The engineers in attendance were able to participate in general discussion with their colleagues as it related to the various deep foundation solutions offered by JES Construction and Foundation Supportworks, while also earning 5 Professional Development hours.
Engineering Seminar in Denver, CO Educates Design Professionals on Helical Foundation Systems
Complete Structural Systems, a division of Complete Basement Systems in Denver, CO, recently hosted a 5-hour engineering seminar for design professionals from across the state. Complete Structural Systems has been providing engineers, architects, general contractors and homeowners with foundation repair and stabilization solutions throughout Colorado for more than a decade. The seminar was held on March 10th, and attracted over 65 engineers looking to increase their understanding of deep foundation solutions, while also earning 5 professional development hours. Foundation Supportworks, a leading manufacturer and distributor of foundation stabilization equipment headquartered in Omaha, NE, was represented by their Director of Engineering, Jeff Kortan, PE. Jeff facilitated the event, which enabled attendees to ask questions and interact throughout the seminar. His presentation allowed the engineers in attendance to expand their knowledge about typical applications, design considerations, capacity calculations, and material selection for Foundation Supportworks helical foundation systems, helical soil nails, and push (resistance) pier systems.
Foundation Supportworks Presents to Over 85 Engineers in Charlotte, NC
Jeff Kortan, Director of Engineering for Foundation Supportworks, presented a 5-hour engineering seminar in Charlotte, North Carolina on December 9th. Foundation Supportworks of the Carolina’s, a division of DryPro Basement Systems, hosted the event where more than 85 engineers were in attendance.
The 5-hour seminar gave local engineers an opportunity to obtain 5 Professional Development Hours and expand their knowledge about typical applications, design considerations, capacity calculations, and material selection for Foundation Supportworks™, helical foundation systems, helical soil nails, and push pier systems.
FSI Presents to Engineers Throughout the Northeast
Engineers throughout the northeast participated in continuing education seminars conducted by Foundation Supportworks in New Jersey, Connecticut and Massachusetts on June 2-4. Jeff Kortan, P.E. and Don Deardorff, P.E. presented a four hour course on the design, common applications, installation procedures, and testing procedures for helical foundation systems, helical soil nails and hydraulically-driven push pier systems. The courses had been approved for four PDH’s (Professional Development Hours) through ACEC of New York. “We had great interaction from attendees at each of our three offerings,” said Kortan. “Many of the engineers we spoke with were unfamiliar with the typical applications of these products and immediately could see how these products would benefit them on projects they are working on right now.”
