Foundation Supportworks Becomes an Approved Provider of Continuing Education Through the AIA CES
Foundation Supportworks was recently accepted as an approved continuing education provider through the American Institute of Architects (AIA) Continuing Education System (CES). With nearly 300 state and local chapters, the AIA has been the leading professional membership association for licensed architects, emerging professionals, and allied partners since 1857. The AIA CES is a thriving, multifaceted professional development program and the largest source of education specifically targeted to the design and building industry. Its mission is to support AIA members in mastering new knowledge and skills to meet the changing requirements of the profession and to responsibly meet the role that society entrusts to architects.
Amanda Harrington, Director of Training and Development for Foundation Supportworks, said, “We are excited to have been recognized by the American Institute of Architects as an approved provider for their Continuing Education System. The goal of our coursework is to educate the architectural community on various deep foundation solutions that are available and how those solutions interface with structures in varying soil conditions. Engineering Seminars in Virginia Educate Design Professionals on Deep Foundation Solutions
JES Construction, a foundation repair and stabilization company with multiple offices throughout the Mid-Atlantic region, hosted three 5-hour engineering seminars during the week of October 24th. JES Constructionis a leader in the foundation industry, and has been serving commercial and residential clients throughout Virginia and Maryland for nearly 20 years.
The 5-hour seminars, which took place in Richmond, Manassas (near Washington, DC), and Norfolk, Virginia, were facilitated by Jeff Kortan, P.E., Director of Engineering for Foundation Supportworks, and Don Deardorff, P.E., Senior Application Engineer for Foundation Supportworks.
A total of 212 design professionals attended the presentations, allowing them to expand their knowledge about design considerations, typical applications, and capacity calculations associated with helical foundation systems, helical soil nails, and push (resistance) pier systems.
The engineers in attendance were able to participate in general discussion with their colleagues as it related to the various deep foundation solutions offered by JES Construction and Foundation Supportworks, while also earning 5 Professional Development hours.
Deep Foundation Systems Training Course Takes Place in Omaha, NE
During the week of October 10th, over 20 foundation repair contractors from all over North America attended commercial sales and marketing training at Foundation Supportworks in Omaha, NE. The training focused on various sales and marketing strategies associated with commercial construction as it relates to deep foundation solutions, as well as understanding the commitment and realities of commercial foundation work. A variety of topics were covered during the 3-day training, including helical pile and tieback installation procedures, communicating effectively with engineers and architects, technical knowledge, reading project specifications and plans, and out-serving the competition, among others. Aside from classroom discussions, the participants also spent time in the field observing a helical pile load test to better understand the correlation between product capacities and soil conditions.
Those in attendance enjoyed the opportunity of networking with other foundation repair companies from across North America, while also sharing best practices on the most effective ways to grow their commercial divisions.
Engineering Seminar in Denver, CO Educates Design Professionals on Helical Foundation Systems
Complete Structural Systems, a division of Complete Basement Systems in Denver, CO, recently hosted a 5-hour engineering seminar for design professionals from across the state. Complete Structural Systems has been providing engineers, architects, general contractors and homeowners with foundation repair and stabilization solutions throughout Colorado for more than a decade. The seminar was held on March 10th, and attracted over 65 engineers looking to increase their understanding of deep foundation solutions, while also earning 5 professional development hours. Foundation Supportworks, a leading manufacturer and distributor of foundation stabilization equipment headquartered in Omaha, NE, was represented by their Director of Engineering, Jeff Kortan, PE. Jeff facilitated the event, which enabled attendees to ask questions and interact throughout the seminar. His presentation allowed the engineers in attendance to expand their knowledge about typical applications, design considerations, capacity calculations, and material selection for Foundation Supportworks helical foundation systems, helical soil nails, and push (resistance) pier systems.
Foundation Supportworks Becomes a Registered Provider of Continuing Education Through NCEES RCEP
Foundation Supportworks was recently accepted as a registered continuing education provider through the National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying’s (NCEES) Registered Continuing Education Program (RCEP). The NCEES RCEP is a comprehensive registry of continuing education providers that have demonstrated adherence to high-quality, effective practices in the development and delivery of professional education activities for engineers. The purpose of the RCEP through NCEES is to:
• Promote quality and consistency in engineering continuing education and training.
• Measure and monitor providers of continuing education against established criteria.
• Recognize providers who adhere to effective practices.
• Provide a single source for licensee education recordkeeping.
